1st lost tooth

Today, Jack lost his first tooth. I can’t believe it! How’s he getting to be so big?

Last week his teacher was joking with him that she had to get the glue and glue it back in because he isn’t allowed to grow up. I feel a little bit that way. But mainly, I’m just so proud of the boy he is and the fact that he still has moments of wanting to be little. Earlier this week, he said he wanted to live with us forever and couldn’t understandy why anyone would want to move away or go to college. The other day he asked me to rock him. I was thrilled. Today, he wanted me to stay at the birthday party instead of leave like the other moms. I was happy to oblige.

And still…he grows up. Just as he should.

It’s Friday Night…

and I feel alright.

Sorry, couldn’t resist.

We’re well on our way to our Friday night. Our family Friday night ritual includes homemade pizza, a movie and popcorn (with a treat). The perfect end to the week.

Life has been crazy the past little while, thus the lack of blogging. My sister, brother-in-law, and sweet baby nephew were here over the logn weekend. I hope to catch up on things this weekend. I’m feeling tons of home decorating inspiriation thanks to some fellow (much smarter/more creative) bloggers (Nesting Place, Our Suburban Cottage, The Inspired Room, as well as many others) and am anxious to start pulling our circa 1980s home together into something warm, inviting and comfortable.

Back soon.

Tuesday Morning

We’re off to a great day and ready for a busy (fun busy) week around here.

A yummy breakfast was eaten (oatmeal for Connor and me, toast for the older two).
Dinner’s in the crockpot.
The kitchen is cleaned up.
A fort has been made in the play room.

Time to clean out closets, finish touching up the paint in Morgan’s room, do laundry, etc.

So much is yet to come this week.

The women’s group at church starts again tomorrow.
Kindergarten registration for Jack on Thursday.
Getting the house in order for my sister, brother-in-law and nephew who arrive on Friday.
Finishing (ok, and starting) Jack’s Valentine’s for school.

Fun. Busy. Wonderful.

Dollar Store Heart Doilies

A few weeks ago, I popped into the dollar store to grab pans for my meal exchange enchiladas. While there, I grabbed a few Valentine’s decorations including a 36 pack of paper doilies. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do with them but for a buck I knew I’d come up with something. I actually came up with three somethings. A little inspiration for all of the garland and I was off. Granted, they aren’t as fancy as so many others but they were fun to do and the kids thought they were the best. In fact, the garland on the banister is made of hearts decorated by the kids and Jack strung the entire thing. Perfect.
