Today was Jack’s first day of Kindergarten. He has been counting down the days since Pre-school finished in late May.
J was able to go in to work late this morning and made blueberry pancakes for breakfast. Yum!
A true testament to the level of excitement is that he had his clothes laid out and backpack ready to go yesterday at 9:00 am. Thankfully, he also had his first soccer practice yesterday so that helped make the day go a bit faster.
While Jack was mainly excited. He was a little nervous, too. Last night after I rocked him before bed (at his request), he told me “I think I might be a little shy tomorrow.”
He slept well.
I did not. I kept waking up to check the time and dreamt that we were late.
We were not late. In fact, 30 minutes before it was time to go we were ready and trying to fill the time. Thankfully, Aunt Susan called to wish Jack a great 1st day and that helped the time go a bit faster.
And so, we walked to school together.
And when Mrs. W opened the classroom door, Jack ran to her and gave her a hug. We said our goodbyes and he ran in to start his day.
On our walk home Morgan said, “I miss Jack.”
A few minutes later as I was getting the kids a snack Connor asked, “Where’s Jack?”
When we got home I checked the “everyday folder” and found my first note from the teacher.
So far, we’re off to a great start!
