In the ground

We finally got the cold weather seeds in the ground.  When it comes to planning our garden, I'm not as prepared as I was last year.  We're shifting things around a bit in hopes of having an even more successful harvest.
The afternoon we planted was cold and windy which made planting not nearly as enjoyable as it could have been.  In fact, by the time we got to the last seeds, I was on my own.

So far we've planted:
*onion (red, yellow and green)
Everything else has to wait until after Mother's Day.

In true Colorado fashion, the following morning we woke to a dusting of snow.  Spring is always full of surprises around here.

How about you?  Are you planning a garden?  What are you growing this year?

  1. beth, I know you planted some stuff in containers last year. We are having to do all containers this year. i was just wondering what you planted and if you had success. Any input would help. Thanks and I’m really enjoying your outdoor challenge. Keep up the good work.

  2. Becky- We did herbs and lettuce in whiskey barrels last year and are doing it again this year. However, most of our garden is in raised beds. There’s a great post on Simple Organic that talks about getting started and covers containers. I think you should be able to grow most anything in containers. You Grow Girl is also a great resource.
I’m glad your enjoying the outdoor challenge. It’s been fun to be mindful and do more than just playing. Not that there’s anything wrong with that but that would be a boring month of posts. 🙂
