Unplugged Sunday

Unplugged Sunday: Newspaper reading

For the past several weeks, Heather has been sharing her family’s experiences with spending Sunday “unplugged”.   For her family this means no computers, texting, video games or TV (though they may watch an occaisional movie).  Their need to unplug, and the experiences that have resulted from doing so, have really resonated with me.  So, I suggested we try it and this Sunday we spent our unplugged.

To be honest, I’m really the one that needs this.  I have gotten into the habit of checking e-mail, facebook, etc. much too often throughout the day.  Or, I’ll turn the TV on for the kids for a quick show so I can get a few things done.  None of these things are bad in and of themselves but it can be too much.

I wasn’t sure I’d stick with it.

But I did and I really enjoyed it.   In fact, it was a bit of a relief.
